It’s time for Back to School!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the September 3rd, 2007

I’m incredulous that my kiddos are returning (or leaving for) school and summer is done. Pools are closing (no no no!!!) and the parks will soon long for the sounds of kids.

This new sketch is dedicated to all the babies we’re missing while they return to school…

Kim…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the August 25th, 2007

This one was inspired by Kim. She’s my son’s girlfriend and is just about one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. With luck, these two will make it four years and beyond. No matter what, I hope Kim’s dreams come true.

Dedicated to Kim. (Featuring papers by Fancy Pants - Kewl line.)

Inspired by my camera

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the August 11th, 2007

I’ve been wandering around lately with my camera in hand constantly it seems and altering photos to my liking. So today, our sketch was inspired by the back of my camera, simplified. I love being inspired by the simplest of things… (and no, my camera is not red. Red is just how I’m feeling today.)

Sunny Day

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the August 6th, 2007

Today has become a beautiful day though very humid. I love the sun shining between the branches on the trees and the pinks, fuschia’s and white’s showing on the Crepe Myrtles all around. Definitely a great day to be inspired…

The air is sticky..

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the August 2nd, 2007

and man is it hot! Decided once I got the View out today to take a bit of a break and try to enjoy some outdoor time with my little guy… that lasted about 5 seconds (and I’m being generous…).

Instead I came inside and watched my little guy and my middle guy play video games. Taylor wasn’t feeling well (just bad bad allergies) and Dalton was more than happy to have him to hang out with today. (Can I tell ya how much I’m gonna miss him when he leaves for school?)

So, here’s a sketch I finished up today and will hopefully have more tomorrow.

Enjoy!

Today I’m thinking about water…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the July 28th, 2007

I love water. Today, hot and muggy, is a great day for water play. That’s just what happened! Our little guy was invited to a water birthday party and they soaked each other and all the grown ups too with tons of water! Big water guns were the party favors and this was what it inspired.

Love letters…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the July 19th, 2007

Inspired by all the romantics in the world who keep their old love letters in a bundle only to be found and read one day when you need a smile. Edges are not so edgy but worn and yellow, ribbons are faded and you can tell these photos or letters have been looked at and read, time and time again…

What a great day!

Yep - my oldest child becomes a legal adult… That’s right - he’s old, I’m old, we’re all old because yes America, look out. A new LEGAL rebel is born.

To celebrate, here are two new sketches for you!

Sunrise …

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the July 14th, 2007

I was up so early this morning and watched the sun rise. It was a peaceful morning, the kind you really wish came fore often than just once every blue moon. All I was missing was a cup of coffee for a picture perfect moment. Ah well, the inspiration it gave me was good enough for me today.

A Star is Born

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the July 13th, 2007

This was inspired by a picture I found recently of my niece when she first started piano lessons. Momma would have been so pleased to hear her play!

So, here it is - A Star is Born!

Trying to get it scrapped!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the July 12th, 2007

Have you noticed the trend now in scrapping is gorgeous one photo layouts? We’re getting more and more artistic with our scrapbooking and shying away from a lot of the moments or every day things that we’re doing with our lives. Honestly, if I tried to do this all the time, I’d never get all my photos scrapped that I want to scrap. (I know I’ve mentioned it before. I’ll be well over 100 by the time I scrapped all my photos and that’s if I stopped taking pictures today!) So, I have been creating more two page, multi photo layouts lately to help the process.

Here’s my latest two page sketch; very very simple with lots of room for interpretation and change. See what you can do with it!

It’s all in the organizing…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the July 6th, 2007

I was taking out some digital kits this morning looking for some of my older work, and I got inspired by the different cases in which I have my discs stored. It really struck me! So here ya go - hope it strikes something in you too!

Happy 4th of July!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the July 4th, 2007

Happy Independence Day to all! Today is a simple sketch but you can dress it up with all your favorite embellies! I really wanna see your imaginations go nuts here! So let’s go!

Happy July 1st!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the July 1st, 2007

Wow… we’ve officially finished half the year already. I can’t beleive we’re this far int0 2007 already. We’ve got a lot to accomplish in the coming weeks! Wow!

Here’s your sketch of the day. Hope you enjoy! Decided to get into the whole “white space” thing. Fill it how you might. I can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Whimsy…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 29th, 2007

Here’s a whimsical layout for you today! Hope you have fun with this one!

Last one…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 27th, 2007

Here’s the last one in this series. Hope you share what you’ve done with this series. I hope to get busy on mine today!

Monday, Monday…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 25th, 2007

Egads, Mondays are so iffy… who really wants to get out of bed on a Monday? I like being a little lazy on Mondays just so I can ease into the week. Today, I’m not easing into anything… today I got kicked in the stomach by a little boy who wandered into our bed in the middle of the night to sleep with his head toward the bottom of the bed and his feet dangerously close to my face. And with a very unceremonious “WHOMP” I was awakend by said kick and decided sleeping in was not on my agenda for the day.

So, what better way to spend your morning than playing on the computer, eh?

So, anyone guessing what I’m doing yet?

Here’s One for Today…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 23rd, 2007

Okay, surely you all have some kind of idea where I’m going with this.

Well then, here are two more clues…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 23rd, 2007

Any clues yet?

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 20th, 2007

I know this will probably give this away but anybody have a clue what’s going on with these two sketches (yesterday and today)?

Tuesday tickle

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 19th, 2007

Here’s a teaser sketch for you. See what you think might be coming from this..

Happy Monday!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 18th, 2007

It’s really summer. The kids are all out of school and they’re already bored. Too funny…

There will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures of fun and facinating activities so we need to be ready for it! If we scrapped every single page as a single photo page, we’d be 100 before we conquered their first five years wouldn’t we?

So, with that in mind, here’s today’s sketch! Hope you enjoy!

Happy Father’s Day!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 17th, 2007

To Honor Father’s Day I bring you four CARD sketches! These are all “photo cards” in that each one features a photograph. For Father’s Day you might want to use a photo of you and Dad, your kids wishing Granddad a Happy Grandfather’s Day etc. Try using your favorite picture of you or a fav of your dad. For a nostalgic feel, what about a photo of Dad holding you as a baby and see what emotions that one brings.

Inside each card, write your own sentiment or just a letter to your dad letting him know what he means to you.

I REALLY want to see your examples of these! See what you can come up with! Not just for Father’s Day - how about anniversary, birthday, birth announcements, just because, or anything else. And picture this using a photo of a place, an object, a sunset, just about anything. Let your imagination be your guide!

WOW what a week!!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 12th, 2007

Last week was such a whirlwind of activity I could hardly breathe! If you read my blog, you can get an idea of what all I did last weekend, so you can imagine the preparations that went into it.

So, today I bring you a sketch that I actually put together a little bit ago. It will hopefully be a layout dedicated to Move In Day when T goes to Longwood this fall!

It’s Hump Day!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 6th, 2007

Wednesdays are always fun days for me. For some reason, because they’re taking me into the home stretch of my week, I love having the chance to just sit back a bit on Wednesdays and breath easier. Anyone else love Hump Day?

So here’s my “breathing easy” sketch today!

Yep folks that’s HAND doodling on there - I love the look of the “pen scratches” and this is just what I was going for here. Give it a shot! I’ll bet you can do it better than you think!

Tired on Tuesday…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 5th, 2007

Oh yeah - I’ve got the sleepy bug… I think when school is out, you won’t find me up at this hour any more! I’m ready to be alseep again and, shhh…. don’t tell…. I took a wee nap yesterday! It was sooo nice to just lie down for those few moments. I didn’t wake entirely refreshed but I did get up feeling better than before!

So today’s sketch is all about the circles of sleep (life). I wish I could have this many “circles” (aka sleeps) in a day! *grins*

Plain Jane

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 4th, 2007

Well good Monday Morning to everyone! Since Mondays are always kind of slow starting, it followed suit that I was too today. So, today’s sketch it is kind of plain Jane too. I’d love to see this one dressed up a bit, (thinking chipboard and flourishes)…

Have a go and share yours won’t you?

As promised…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 2nd, 2007

Today marks our first 8.5 x 11 sketch… I love ribbon and was thinking I might use ribbon on this one behind the photo instead of patterned papers.

What would you use? (Show me, Link me!)

Happy June!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the June 1st, 2007

Today’s sketch is all about being able to get a single event onto a single two page layout. I know I’ll have plenty of Graduation photos to scrap. So many in fact I’m leaning toward starting my first 12 x 12 album. I’ve stayed strictly 8.5 x 11 until now, but I’m really enjoying these larger sketches.

No fear, I’ll be showing off the 8.5 x 11 ones shortly!

Remember, today starts the new month for submissions for The View! Can’t wait to see what you all submit! Let’s see that Eye Candy!

Thanks Dalton!

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 31st, 2007

Yes folks, Dalton is my 6 year old and today he inadvertently inspired this sketch. He loves to watch Cartoon Network in the mornings. I typically squash this as I don’t think kids need that much television and mornings are our time to chat and get ready for the day.

Today was different. Dalton decided to wake up at 6:15 this morning. Now, this is very atypical as I have to wake him generally about 8am. Not only that, 6:15 is “my time”. It’s right smack dab in the middle of when I’m taking my 45 mins to me to become a rational sane individual. No talking out loud, no having to look human, just time with me. But today Dalton was up and I wasn’t ready so Cartoon Network won.

This sketch was inspired by a commercial! A very cool commercial that had my favorite cartoon character on it advertising her show, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. She’s a droll nasty little girl, that Mandy. She’s also dry witted and the cartoon is not a children’s show. Thank goodness Dalton hasn’t a clue yet how adult this cartoon really is….

So, thanks little man and thanks Mandy!

Hope you enjoy.

Forgiveness…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 30th, 2007

This one was inspired by forgiveness… how sweet, how divine, how joyful, how lovely to live in forgiveness. To that person, thanks for a lifetime of inspiration! *wink* You know who you are!

Romance is in the air…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 29th, 2007

How about a romantic layout sketch? Inspired by the love songs playing on the radio this morning.

Happy Memorial Day

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 28th, 2007

Days like today bring a lot to the tips of my nerve endings. I’m so indebted to anyone who has served in our Armed Forces to keep this amazing country of ours free. To all of you who have served, you have my support, my gratitude, my admiration and my respect. Thank you.

To that, I offer you a sketch meant to be a memorial page. Not that the person you highlight with this sketch should have passed on, but let this be a real testimony to how much he or she means to you. Hope you enjoy.

A Day of Rest…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 27th, 2007

As today is Sunday, I’m resting and not creating today. It’s been a long weekend already!

Hope you enjoy today’s sketch. It’s an older one but one of my favorites!

Crowded House

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 26th, 2007

No, I actually wasn’t listening to them today but rather that’s what inspired this sketch - feeling very cramped in my house today. (Don’t know why - it’s no more crowded today than any other!) I think I just need a break - might be a good day for a road trip to the beach!

So here ya go! Enjoy!

Precious

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 25th, 2007

Today’s sketch is inspired by Annie Lennox’s song Precious. Loving listening to my tunes more and more often! Hopefully all this will lead me back to my paper scrapping soon! I’m dying to play touchy feely!

Thanks to everyone who’s been reading lately. Don’t forget to try your hand - and remember, sketches are just the beginning - you can make it yours, which usually happens. Take the sketch and get inspired! What happens during the creating is all you baby!

Dream On

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 24th, 2007

This is the name of one of my favorite songs from the 70’s. While it’s by Aerosmith, I was never one for “rock” when I was a teen, but for some reason, it always seemed to filter into some of my favorite times. This song in particular has ALWAYS been one of my favorites and brings back very vivid memories to me. So, here’s the sketch inspired by this amazing song.

Today’s post…

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 23rd, 2007

Music seems to always inspire me. I think I’ve discovered my muse after all!

Hope you enjoy today’s sketch. Felt the music wrapping around me so you’ve got “round” to work with today!

Premier Sketch

Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 21st, 2007

Well here ya go - the first sketch of the blog. I have just sketched this out and have NOTHING to go with it. So come on ya’ll! Help me fill this space!!

My inspiration for this came from a song by Mandy Moore - the sketch has nothing to do with the song, it’s title or it’s contents. Her voice is so pure it brought this straight up to the top of my head this morning. (Wish I could get it scrapped as easily as I can sketch it!) Thanks Mandy!

Hello and Welcome!

Hello and Welcome!
Posted in Sketch It's by Lissa on the May 20th, 2007

If you’ve been around The Untamed Scrapper long, you know that one of our monthly features in our magazine “The View from Untamed” is a sketch. I love sketches; adore them actually. I sketch everything from billboards, to newspaper ads, to children’s book pages. I used to carry a beautiful daytimer that I filled with inspirations, color combinations and magazine ads found everywhere. To my horror, my daytimer was stolen from my car in a shopping parking lot three Christmases ago.

Today, I keep little bits and pieces of paper handy. Small little books I can tear out pieces of paper, fold them up and put them into my wallet. This way, I can come home, sketch them on my computer and keep them there. The only downside to that is when you lose your harddrive, you lose your sketches too. Fortunately for me, I’ll have this little piece of sketch paradise to keep them all handy now!

So let’s get down to brass tacks here. Why another sketch blog? Why not?! But why mine? Again, why not?

Here’s what I intend to offer you. I’ll upload sketches as often as I can create them (that’s a fairly ominous rate ya’ll) and if I have a layout to accompany a sketch I’ll upload it. If I don’t, I’m gonna depend on ya’ll to fill that space for me!

All you have to do is, if you use my sketch, link me to your layout on the net. I’ll be selecting a maximum of 4 to highlight each sketch. I’d like to be able to select four that represent different interpretations to the sketches.

My thought behind that is this. A sketch is a “jumping off place”. I see sketches as a place to start, to find your muse, feel the inspiration. If things change up a bit during the process so be it. You FOUND your starting place! That’s the purpose and WOW! That’s what I’m after here - to show people how possible it is to take a sketch and find yourself in it.

I’ll be sending out updates to the blog, including this in each monthly edition of The View. How’d you like to be featured in our magazine? We’d love to feature you!

So let’s get moving! I’m sketchin’ it - ya’ll scrap it!
