Hi all!
Kristi, one of my new team members and mates at If It's Groovy, scrapped from the August sketch yesterday. I love love what she's done with the sketch.

Couldn't you just eat this sweet little one with a spoon! She's simply adorable and I feel so honored that one of my new IIG team members wanted to scrap with the August sketch!

Hi all! So much has passed so far this month and I thought I'd get some of the sketches up a little earlier. Here are two of them I've completed so far. I've got another (with two variations) but they're being posted to the team at If It's Groovy!

I'm so excited to be the sketch team leader over there and will be debuting my sketches and their talent with the list mom every month. So, let that be a reminder to you, every 1st, there will be some new eye candy and inspiration at If It's Groovy! The ladies over there are simply fantastic and I'm really looking forward to being a part of it all!

I've done my first sketches since I got sick in May. It's been a long long long year. I've not created a single layout since June. I've not created much but cards. I did do two small clipboards, an altered diary and a mess of cards but that's about it. Oh, and a fun altered flower arrangement. That was Truly fun!

Anyhow, here are my newest sketches. Simple but I'm basically starting from scratch. It's been pretty dry as far as mojo goes. I bring you a 12 x 12 layout, a 6 x 12 layout and a card. I'm also uploading some cards that I made from the last card sketch.

This one is by Meghan, list mommy on one of my favorite groups, the one for whom this sketch was used as the Friday Sketch of the Week. Thanks Meghan!!

This one is by Nicole (aka Nik) in the Land Down Under. She's got one of the most adorable children ever and every time I see Indi I just wanna give her a little squeeze. She's one of those children who I feel is destined for something very special.

This one is by Jodi. I just adore the expression on her little furbaby and those bones in the flower centers are priceless! Don't you just love it!?

Diana shared this layout with us. I sure hope the Luck of the Irish visits me. Those shamrocks are darling!

Last but not least, Tara sent in this layout of her sweet little snow babies. Too fun, using pink for snow pages!

How can you not love it when people can take your sketch and use it to jump off to these great layouts! It's awesome!

I tell you... I know I'm a bad sketch momma... I've been so under the weather and I'm looking forward to some sunshine if you know what I mean. Nothing but grey skies in this old body of mine but I'm looking forward to getting up off my couch (aka bed) for more than a few hours a day. It's getting there. New meds and a couple good friends and I'm beginning to feel like my old self again. Bear with me while I rejoin the land of the living slowly.

Something about a turtle, a rabbit and slow and steady winning the race... Good thing I resemble that turtle!

Seriously now, I have actually sketched a few, AND managed to get them into PSE. At the request of my good friends at Divaliscious, I present you with two new sketches.

As I mentioned yesterday (I think it was yesterday) at my doctor's visit I had a chance to peruse several magazines and MAN did I get a great eye full! Some great sketches were ad inspired. The one earlier today was (well, sort of) and here's another.

November is here!

I love November. I'm not sure why, and it's surely not my favorite month or season, but November makes me happy. I suppose it's because my mom's birthday was in November and Daddy always made a big deal out of celebrating her day. My best friend's birthday is in November and one of my other's (yes I have three best friends) mom had a birthday in November. Crazy, right!

So, in honor of birthdays, when tons of pictures are taken, and you know how hard it is to choose just one, I bring you this multi-photo two page layout.

The left side and part of the right calls for a single photo printed on vellum for a dreamy effect. Another way to do that might be to print the photo on regular photo paper, but cover parts of it in vellum to call attention to just part of the photo. Then again, just print the photo on photo paper and enjoy how ever you choose! To do this, you'd most certainly have to have a 12 x 12 printer. If you're like me, with only an 8.5 x 11 edge to edge, you can get REALLY creative with it and print in pieces.

The right side calls for a number of smaller photos and would be equally as fun with some photos and some accents. Again, your choice. I'd LOVE to see you examples! Leave me some blog love and link me to your layouts won't you?

Well, I can't believe we've nearly reached the end of October. It's just flying by without me! It's been a bittersweet month for obvious reasons. Today I got some of my sketching inspiration so I decided to roll with it. This is the first one I've gotten into PSE. Working on a few others. Hopefully I'll have more sketch "eye candy" for you later today.

It's About Time, Eh?

Well! I have been busy again and finally committed one of my new sketches to "paper". so here's my latest. I made this sketch with a photo of my mom and dad in mind, a larger photo, so it's a single photo layout.

It's also for a challenge at a great challenge blog called ScrapDragons, so I knew the colors and few more parts of my layout (paint, pink and the word "Art").

So, here's the sketch and the layout!

And here's my layout! Wish me luck!

The paint is on the letters - I painted the sage green and dotted them with Medium Gold Irridescent paint. I also added the gold to the inside of the eyelets and coated them with Irredescent glitter.

The Art of course is in the title.

and man is it hot! Decided once I got the View out today to take a bit of a break and try to enjoy some outdoor time with my little guy… that lasted about 5 seconds (and I’m being generous…).

Instead I came inside and watched my little guy and my middle guy play video games. Taylor wasn’t feeling well (just bad bad allergies) and Dalton was more than happy to have him to hang out with today. (Can I tell ya how much I’m gonna miss him when he leaves for school?)

So, here’s a sketch I finished up today and will hopefully have more tomorrow.

I love water. Today, hot and muggy, is a great day for water play. That’s just what happened! Our little guy was invited to a water birthday party and they soaked each other and all the grown ups too with tons of water! Big water guns were the party favors and this was what it inspired.

Have you noticed the trend now in scrapping is gorgeous one photo layouts? We’re getting more and more artistic with our scrapbooking and shying away from a lot of the moments or every day things that we’re doing with our lives. Honestly, if I tried to do this all the time, I’d never get all my photos scrapped that I want to scrap. (I know I’ve mentioned it before. I’ll be well over 100 by the time I scrapped all my photos and that’s if I stopped taking pictures today!) So, I have been creating more two page, multi photo layouts lately to help the process.

Here’s my latest two page sketch; very very simple with lots of room for interpretation and change. See what you can do with it!

Egads, Mondays are so iffy… who really wants to get out of bed on a Monday? I like being a little lazy on Mondays just so I can ease into the week. Today, I’m not easing into anything… today I got kicked in the stomach by a little boy who wandered into our bed in the middle of the night to sleep with his head toward the bottom of the bed and his feet dangerously close to my face. And with a very unceremonious “WHOMP” I was awakend by said kick and decided sleeping in was not on my agenda for the day.

So, what better way to spend your morning than playing on the computer, eh?

It’s really summer. The kids are all out of school and they’re already bored. Too funny…

There will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures of fun and facinating activities so we need to be ready for it! If we scrapped every single page as a single photo page, we’d be 100 before we conquered their first five years wouldn’t we?

To Honor Father’s Day I bring you four CARD sketches! These are all “photo cards” in that each one features a photograph. For Father’s Day you might want to use a photo of you and Dad, your kids wishing Granddad a Happy Grandfather’s Day etc. Try using your favorite picture of you or a fav of your dad. For a nostalgic feel, what about a photo of Dad holding you as a baby and see what emotions that one brings.

Inside each card, write your own sentiment or just a letter to your dad letting him know what he means to you.

I REALLY want to see your examples of these! See what you can come up with! Not just for Father’s Day - how about anniversary, birthday, birth announcements, just because, or anything else. And picture this using a photo of a place, an object, a sunset, just about anything. Let your imagination be your guide!

Oh yeah - I’ve got the sleepy bug… I think when school is out, you won’t find me up at this hour any more! I’m ready to be alseep again and, shhh…. don’t tell…. I took a wee nap yesterday! It was sooo nice to just lie down for those few moments. I didn’t wake entirely refreshed but I did get up feeling better than before!

So today’s sketch is all about the circles of sleep (life). I wish I could have this many “circles” (aka sleeps) in a day! *grins*

Today’s sketch is all about being able to get a single event onto a single two page layout. I know I’ll have plenty of Graduation photos to scrap. So many in fact I’m leaning toward starting my first 12 x 12 album. I’ve stayed strictly 8.5 x 11 until now, but I’m really enjoying these larger sketches.

Yes folks, Dalton is my 6 year old and today he inadvertently inspired this sketch. He loves to watch Cartoon Network in the mornings. I typically squash this as I don’t think kids need that much television and mornings are our time to chat and get ready for the day.

Today was different. Dalton decided to wake up at 6:15 this morning. Now, this is very atypical as I have to wake him generally about 8am. Not only that, 6:15 is “my time”. It’s right smack dab in the middle of when I’m taking my 45 mins to me to become a rational sane individual. No talking out loud, no having to look human, just time with me. But today Dalton was up and I wasn’t ready so Cartoon Network won.

This sketch was inspired by a commercial! A very cool commercial that had my favorite cartoon character on it advertising her show, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. She’s a droll nasty little girl, that Mandy. She’s also dry witted and the cartoon is not a children’s show. Thank goodness Dalton hasn’t a clue yet how adult this cartoon really is….

So, thanks little man and thanks Mandy!

Days like today bring a lot to the tips of my nerve endings. I’m so indebted to anyone who has served in our Armed Forces to keep this amazing country of ours free. To all of you who have served, you have my support, my gratitude, my admiration and my respect. Thank you.

Today’s sketch is inspired by Annie Lennox’s song Precious. Loving listening to my tunes more and more often! Hopefully all this will lead me back to my paper scrapping soon! I’m dying to play touchy feely!

This is the name of one of my favorite songs from the 70’s. While it’s by Aerosmith, I was never one for “rock” when I was a teen, but for some reason, it always seemed to filter into some of my favorite times. This song in particular has ALWAYS been one of my favorites and brings back very vivid memories to me. So, here’s the sketch inspired by this amazing song.

Well here ya go - the first sketch of the blog. I have just sketched this out and have NOTHING to go with it. So come on ya’ll! Help me fill this space!!

My inspiration for this came from a song by Mandy Moore - the sketch has nothing to do with the song, it’s title or it’s contents. Her voice is so pure it brought this straight up to the top of my head this morning. (Wish I could get it scrapped as easily as I can sketch it!) Thanks Mandy!

Hello and Welcome!

If you’ve been around The Untamed Scrapper long, you know that one of our monthly features in our magazine “The View from Untamed” is a sketch. I love sketches; adore them actually. I sketch everything from billboards, to newspaper ads, to children’s book pages. I used to carry a beautiful daytimer that I filled with inspirations, color combinations and magazine ads found everywhere. To my horror, my daytimer was stolen from my car in a shopping parking lot three Christmases ago.

Today, I keep little bits and pieces of paper handy. Small little books I can tear out pieces of paper, fold them up and put them into my wallet. This way, I can come home, sketch them on my computer and keep themÂ there. The only downside to that is when you lose your harddrive, you lose your sketches too. Fortunately for me, I’ll have this little piece of sketch paradise to keep them all handy now!

So let’s get down to brass tacks here. Why another sketch blog? Why not?! But why mine? Again, why not?

Here’s what I intend to offer you. I’ll upload sketches as often as I can create them (that’s a fairly ominous rate ya’ll) and if I have a layout to accompany a sketch I’ll upload it. If I don’t, I’m gonna depend on ya’ll to fill that space for me!

All you have to do is, if you use my sketch, link me to your layout on the net. I’ll be selecting a maximum of 4 to highlight each sketch. I’d like to be able to select four that represent different interpretations to the sketches.

My thought behind that is this. A sketch is a “jumping off place”. I see sketches as a place to start, to find your muse, feel the inspiration. If things change up a bit during the process so be it. You FOUND your starting place! That’s the purpose and WOW! That’s what I’m after here - to show people how possible it is to take a sketch and find yourself in it.

I’ll be sending out updates to the blog, including this in each monthly edition of The View. How’d you like to be featured in our magazine? We’d love to feature you!
